Up for Grabs was inspired by the web ring, BooksANDBlogs, started by the Early Reviewers group at Librarything. I wanted to give the independent, non-income generating, non-commercial, book blogger a home to list and find book giveaways and contests.

Just a few simple guidelines:

1 ~ You can email me by choosing the Contact Me page with giveaway information and links or leaving a comment on the Books Giveaway page with link(s) to your giveaway.

2 ~ If you come across a giveaway or contest in your blog travels please email me by selecting the Contact Me page so that I can post it.

3 – If the hosting site appears to be mainly dedicated to giveaways and contests I reserve the right not to post their links.

4 ~ Enjoy Up For Grabs. Stop by often as I love to post new giveaways and contests.

Okay, this is such a better site than blogger! 🙂 Go for it!!
But perhaps on the giveaway pages, you might wanna do a new post for each day? So then it comes out on a feed reader. But if not, we can keep checking back on the actual blog — that’s okay too! 🙂 Thank you for doing this!!! xxx

I’m happy to see the new site is hit. Unfortunately the one big downfall, and an experienced WP user correct me if I’m wrong, is you can’t “post” to pages as we traditionally know posting.

I’m either going to have use a standard post like I do at Blogger which updates to feed readers or use pages which was a big selling point for the switch.

I really like the idea of having a page for each contest month but that may not work best if most people would like a feed to a reader program.

Typically I update the site in the mornings on the days I work which are Sunday through Wednesday. On what is my weekend (Thursday-Saturday) I update in the morning and evening.

Please weigh in let me know if it’s posts or pages.

    My vote: pages

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your new WordPress home for Up For Grabs!!! Not just because I’m on WP too, but because your site looks cleaner and is compartmentalized nicely now. I think this will be a good thing!!

I have solution to the feed reader dilemma I’d been facing with this site and it came to me in the shower this morning of all places 🙂

I will leave daily comments when I’ve updated a giveaways page so subscribe to Comments for a page and your feed readers will update. Easy peasy!

So can I subscribe to the comments with BlogLines, Marcia? I hope that isn’t a silly question, but I’m having trouble adding the new site to my BlogLines.

    Hi Shana~

I don’t know if you can or not. Might be a question to ask the Bloglines support department or maybe one of our fellow bloggers can help. Anyone out there know the answer?

I noticed your e-mail above and am assuming that you do this to stop automated spammers gathering your e-mail from the site. An alternative that still allows it to function regularly, but is harder for spam-bots to read is to encode it using a decimal entry. You embed the string in the html but visitors see the e-mail address as normal. Here’s a couple links to sites that’ll do it for you. It’s not 100% spam bot proof, but usually pretty good.

Best of luck with this new site, looks great.
